A Hazardous Materials Awareness course taught by The University of Illinois Fire Service Institute was completed today at the Warrensburg Fire Protection District firehouse. Twenty emergency responders from multiple departments took part in the eight (8) hour course. The objectives of this course are to teach potential dangers associated with the transportation and storage of hazardous materials and the identification techniques required in these emergencies.
Departments represented in this course were from:
Warrensburg, Latham, Argenta - Oreana, Maroa, Cerro Gordo, Decatur Macon County Dispatch Center, Shumway, and Edgewood Fire Protection Districts, as well as the Menard County Rescue Squad. The A & R Security firm also provided students during this course as they deal with many of the State of Illinois Government buildings.
